Talking Trends: Spring is Coming!

As the weather warms up, we’re thinking spring–spring weddings, that is! We love spring weddings here. The beauty, the brightness, the lightness, the airiness and the freshness are the things dreams are made of here at An Urban Affair. When it comes to spring weddings, we live in color!

Pastels

Blush may be a 4-season color, but spring is when pastels really sing. Sweet pinks and baby blues are the Pantone colors of the year, and they team up beautifully with cheeky peaches, buttery yellows, creamy purples and tender greens. A soft color palate can get scary for some couples, but it doesn’t have to be so sweet. Go wild and rustic with full single stems in bottles or bud vases, choose a loosely built bouquet with seasonal wildflowers, or pair with creams, ivories or bold metallics to elevate a pastel color scheme.

Watercolor

Whether it’s a monochromatic wash or an ombre, adding watercolor effects celebrate the lightness of the season. Stationery is the easiest way to incorporate watercolor effects. When your invitations arrive with late-winter mail, the sweeping translucent brush strokes will give your guests a sneak peek at the cool, fresh timbre of your upcoming wedding! Bring it all the way through on the day with your escort cards, menus and table numbers.

Go Green

If pastels aren’t your jam, fresh greenery will liven up any spring wedding. Steer away from dark evergreens and opt instead for bright ivies, tender ferns or pale succulents. Fresh herbs liven up any table, whether it’s long and slender sprigs of rosemary or fresh, verdant basil and mint. Mix greens with sunny yellows and bright corals to keep it sweet and springy instead of heavy and wintry.

Colorful Accents

Color doesn’t have to be limited to your floral and your stationery. Vintage glassware, like the votives and small dishes of floral above, rose gold flatware or patterned plates can bring pops of color to your decor. Instead of folded tented cards, opt to attach your escort cards to ribbons with tiny clips for a fun and festive display that can double as a backdrop for a gift table. Cool lighting washes can also pull a spring color palate into your reception.

Spring color palates don’t have to be sticky sweet pinks or nursery-like pastels. Give us a call, and we’ll give you more tips and tricks for keeping your spring wedding fresh and sophisticated!
