Ellen came to An Urban Affair in 2008 as an intern, armed with a background in public relations and a desire to plan events with more personality. Her ability to balance her creative nature with a strict attention to detail lent itself naturally to event planning, and she quickly worked her way up to lead coordinator. From there it was a short hop to buying the company in early 2012.

For the past seven years, Marcia Hemphill served as company President and Principal Event Planner of An Urban Affair. Marcia has planned a variety of unique and stylish occasions in Chicago and across the country. Currently, Marcia serves as an executive advisor to An Urban Affair. Outside of event planning, Marcia enjoys volunteering her time with the Junior League, traveling with her husband and trying new restaurants with friends. Marcia earned a bachelor’s degree from DePaul University.
An Urban Affair also works with a team of talented and creative experienced freelance planners, planning assistants and interns.
